Illegal marijuana grow house leads to 3 arrests
Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives from the Folsom Police Department arrested 3 adults Saturday morning for cultivation of marijuana and theft of utility services. Detectives executed a search warrant in the 700 block of Winscombe Court on a suspected commercial marijuana growing operation. They discovered the electricity was being bypassed around the SMUD meter. The operation was using about 20 times the electricity of a normal home, and the electrical modifications to the home were not in compliance with electrical building codes.
Detectives seized 528 marijuana plants and approximately 5 pounds of dried marijuana. The grow operation was in violation of City codes and state law. Detectives worked in conjunction with SMUD and Folsom Code Enforcement on this investigation.
The suspects arrested were Tao Zheng, 27, of Folsom, Guoye Jiang, 33, of Folsom, and Guomin Jiang, 31, of Folsom. Detectives booked all 3 into the Sacramento County Jail for the violations. Photos of the suspects are attached.
