Bear Activity in Geyser Crest
The Saratoga Springs Police Department was made aware of a bear sighting in the Geyser Crest neighborhood about 3:30 am on Sunday, August 26th. The bear, which was observed knocking down a bird feeder, was in the vicinity of Hathorn and Hutchins Road. These incidents are going to happen, but we can limit them. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has some tips on their website to maybe limit these instances. DEC recommends taking in bird feeders until November 30th, keeping your garbage cans in a solid structure, keeping your grill clean, and not leaving pet feeding dishes outside just to name a few.
More information is on their website, but please make sure to contact law enforcement should you witness bear activity.
