Capt. Merritt Lamb Centennial Remembrance tomorrow at Hackley Park
The public is invited to learn about and honor Michigan's first Eagle Scout and the first Scoutmaster of Rockford and Muskegon, who was a writer/editor/poet/author who rose rapidly to BSA's National Council as well as within the Michigan National Guard. Bring your lunch; picnic tables will be available in ceremony area. Local veterans, Scouts, National Guard, and civic leaders will participate to recall Merritt Lamb's life and contributions on the centennial of his death in WWI -- in part, with his own words and verse.
*** NOTE: Before closing with the playing of taps, American Legion Merritt Lamb Post 9 will perform a three-round volley, using blanks in their rifles. Please do not be alarmed by the three loud cracks of rifle fire.
