Officer-Involved Shooting Follow-Up Information

On Monday, August 27, 2018, at approximately 4:55 PM, the armed suspect was apprehended in the 18700 block of Cordary Avenue by search teams comprised of SWAT, K9 and Patrol Officers.  The suspect was immediately treated by medical personnel for a gun-shot wound and transported to a local hospital.
 
Officers initially responded to the 18800 block of Florwood Avenue to investigate reports of the suspect destroying property at about 11:33 AM.  The suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.  Officers then completed a preliminary investigation for the crime of vandalism.
 
At approximately 1:06 PM, officers responded back to the residence after they were advised the suspect returned. Upon arrival, the same suspect confronted Torrance Police Officers while armed with a knife.  This contact resulted in an officer-involved shooting.  The suspect then fled the scene.
