      On Saturday night at 8:42 PM, CCPD officers were stopped at the stop light at the intersection of California City Blvd. and Hacienda Blvd. when they witnessed a sport style motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle and a black Audi sedan engaged in an illegal street race at California City Blvd. and Randsburg-Mojave Rd.
     Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle which fled from officers. The rider of the motorcycle who was later identified as 21 year-old Alex Horton of Cal City, led officers on a vehicle pursuit through California City in speeds in excess of 100 mph. Due to the high speeds, officers eventually lost sight of Horton.
     Officers captured Horton at his residence and he was arrested for felony evading of Police. Horton later admitted to running from the police due to not having a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license.
     Horton was arrested and transported to the Mojave Jail. Horton was charged with reckless evading of a peace officer, illegal speed contest, failure to stop at stop signs, speed in excess of 100 mph, and unsafe speed. Horton’s motorcycle, a 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa, was impounded.
