Press Release regarding fatal traffic accident
On Friday, September 7, 2018 at 3:28 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred when a bicyclist (a 40 year old, female resident of Rancho Cucamonga) struck the side of a City of Ontario trash truck, in the intersection of Holt Boulevard and Imperial Avenue. Based on the initial investigation the trash truck was making a left turn from Holt Boulevard onto Imperial Avenue when the bicyclist ran into the side of the truck. Following the collision, the driver of the trash truck stopped immediately and notified emergency services.
Due to the impact, the bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries. She was taken by ambulance to a local area hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
There is an on-going investigation into this collision. Drugs and/ or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The formal identification of the bicyclist will be provided by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of next of kin.
