At 12:00 pm Tuesday 9.11.18, an evacuation order will be implemented pending the arrival of Hurricane Florence. Please remember to turn your water off to your home or Business before you leave the Island. This will help to prevent water leaks due to uprooted trees which often get entangled around private service lines. This will also help our recovery efforts upon returning to the Island after the storm has passed. Low or no water pressure could delay Island residence reentry.
Know where you water cut off valve is located. One at the house and one near the meter, just outside the meter box. There is a customer shut off valve for every property under a green plastic lid. It may be grassed over an inch or two.
Do not rely on the Water department to shut your water off for you as we are busy with system hurricane preparations.
