As of noon this date, a State of Emergency has been declared for McDowell County, City of Marion, and Town of Old Fort. At this time there are no mandatory evacuations or curfews in place.
The Corpening Memorial YMCA, located at 348 Grace Corpening Rd, in Marion is being designated as the primary shelter for Hurricane Florence relief. The shelter will be open to person(s) dispersed by this weather event, beginning on Friday September 14, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. The Corpening Memorial YMCA is fully ADA compliant, and has been designated to allow pets to accompany their owners. The shelter will be in operation throughout the weather event.
Citizens needing transportation to the Corpening Memorial YMCA Emergency Shelter, are being asked to contact officials with McDowell County Emergency Management at 828-652-3241 for transportation details.
