Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 09/13/18 at approximately 1301 hours his office was called out to investigate a personal injury accident that occurred on Decatur Rd near M60 in Penn Township, Cass County Michigan. Burke Webb, 82 year old of Marcellus, MI was driving southbound on Decatur Rd when he failed to recognize a semi with a trailer parked in the roadway with hazards on for construction reasons. Mr. Webb rear-ended the trailer and he received minor injuries and was transported to Dowagiac Borgess Lee for treatment. Mr. William Keckler, 42 year old of Middlebury, IN was the driver of the semi and was not in it at the time as the crew was working on finding a place to drop the trailer in the dirt area off the roadway before pulling in. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. Airbags were deployed in Mr. Webb’s vehicle and seatbelts were used. This case remains under investigation.
