While it is not uncommon for us to have fires in the dry summer months, the fact that we have had three major structure fires this year so close together in the middle of the night is unusual. This is an update on all three structure fires this year. It has been determined that there was nothing suspicious found during the initial investigation of the fires on Lark and Cyprus Court. There is no indication of anything other than unintentional causes on any of the fires. The WPSD Fire Marshal as well as the insurance company’s investigators involved continue to investigate to narrow down the actual causes, however there have been no signs of arson. As far as the most recent fire, we do know that Oncor electric company was working on the power to the house. The Fire Marshal has asked the ATF to assist and rule out anything suspicious and will be working with the homeowner’s insurance company to determine the cause. Two of these fires involved rescue of the occupants and people’s lives were saved. Please check your smoke alarms and make sure they are functional. Night-time fires are extremely dangerous as most people are asleep during this time Batteries should be replaced every year and this simple task can save lives.
