McDowell County Schools 2 Hour Delay (click on blue link) 
Message from Mark Garrett School Superintendent
After consulting with emergency management on current conditions around the county and considering the potential for changes overnight, McDowell County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff Monday September 17, 2018. This will allow us to have daylight to monitor road and other conditions, as well as give drivers more visibility in order to spot potential trouble areas during the morning commute. We will continue to communicate with emergency services agencies and monitor the conditions in order to make any necessary adjustments for tomorrow morning. Have a great evening and stay safe.
