Robert Medina of Bloomington arrested for residential burglary & assault w/a deadly weapon of an elderly victim

INCIDENT: Residential Burglary and Assault With a Deadly Weapon of an Elderly Victim
LOCATION: 9900 Block of Claremont Avenue in the City of Bloomington
SUSPECT(S): Robert Medina, 22 years old, resident of Bloomington
VICTIM(S): Confidential Senior Citizen
SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 16, 2018, at approximately 6:40 pm, deputies from the Fontana Station responded to a 911 call regarding a subject breaking into the home of a senior citizen. When deputies arrived, they searched the victim's residence but did not locate the subject or the victim.
Later that night, at approximately 9:47 pm, deputies received another 911 call reporting the same subject was back at the victim's residence trying to break in and the victim was alone. Deputies responded a second time and located the victim inside with several visible wounds on his face and hands. Deputies conducted a secondary search of the area after receiving a call of a suspicious subject hiding in a nearby resident's back yard.
Robert Medina, was located and detained. Medina was positively identified as the subject who broke into the victim's home and was arrested without incident. Medina is on active California Department of Corrections Parole for an Assault With a Firearm. Medina was transported to West Valley Detention Center, where he was booked for the above charges.
