Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime investigators have arrested one man and are seeking information on the whereabouts of a second suspect who shot and critically wounded a 65-year-old man earlier this month.

Investigators have arrested and charged James Ryan Varnell, 28, with three counts of aggravated robbery, and are currently searching for Rolando Tomas Mendez, 27, also charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.

Deputies were dispatched to the Los Charros Tex-Mex Restaurant in the 11100 block of Bentley, on Monday, September 3, 2018, around 9:50 a.m., after the victim stumbled into the business saying a Hispanic male shot him.


The victim was sitting in his vehicle, when a gold colored Honda sedan with paper tags driven by Varnell stopped in front of his truck.

Mendez approached the victim, and tried to open his door. An altercation occurred between the two and Mendez shot the male and fled.

The victim is currently recovering in an Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.

Rolando Tomas Mendez is 5’9 and weighs 170Lbs., he has black colored hair and brown eyes.

He also has numerous tattoos and a distinctive tattoo of red lips on his right cheek and “Hardaway” above his left eyebrow.

He is known to reside in the Aldine Westfield road and Cromwell street area.

Investigadores de la Oficina del Alguacil del condado de Harris acusan a un sospechoso y buscan información sobre un segundo sospechoso

Investigadores de crímenes violentos de la Oficina del Alguacil del condado de Harris (HCSO, por sus siglas en inglés) arrestaron a un hombre y están buscando información sobre el paradero de un segundo sospechoso que disparó e hirió gravemente a un hombre de 65 años a principios de este mes.

Los investigadores arrestaron y acusaron a James Ryan Varnell, de 28 años, con tres cargos de robo con agravantes, y actualmente están buscando a Rolando Tomas Méndez, de 27 años, también acusado de tres cargos de robo con agravantes.

Agentes fueron enviados al restaurante Los Charros Tex-Mex en la cuadra 11100 de Bentley, el lunes 3 de septiembre de 2018, alrededor de las 9:50 a.m., después de que la víctima entro al restaurante diciendo que un hombre hispano le disparó.

La víctima estaba sentada en su vehículo, cuando un sedán Honda dorado con etiquetas de papel conducido por Varnell se detuvo frente a su camioneta.

Méndez se acercó a la víctima e intentó abrir la puerta de su vehículo. Se produjo un altercado entre los dos y Méndez disparó al hombre y huyó.

La víctima está en un hospital local en cuidados intensivos recuperándose.

Rolando Tomas Mendez mide 5'9 y pesa 170 libras. Tiene el pelo negro y los ojos marrones.

También tiene numerosos tatuajes y un tatuaje distintivo de labios rojos en su mejilla derecha y "Hardaway" sobre su ceja izquierda.

Es conocido por residir en la calle Aldine Westfield y Cromwell.
