Information regarding early morning train incident (click on blue link)
On Tuesday September 25, 2018 (7:01 AM), call was placed to the McDowell County Communications Center from a representative from Norfolk Southern, reporting a pedestrian being struck by a train. This incident occurred on the railroad tracks near the Clay Street intersection.
The preliminary investigation by the Marion Police Department, is showing Casey Black, 39 of Marion was struck by the locomotive, while lying on the railroad tracks. Black was transported to Mission Hospital by McDowell County EMS for treatment for the injuries she sustained.
The Norfolk Southern Railroad Police responded to the scene, and are working alongside Marion Police Officers in this investigation. All media outlets are asked to contact Susan Terpay (Director of Public Relations) for Norfolk Southern, for any questions regarding their organization.
