Attention Southwest District:
Commander Michael Spears was appointed to serve as the Deputy Chief of the new Performance and Policy Division. The division will oversee processes such as use of force and pursuit reviews, as well as coordinating the performance measure evaluations. The division will focus on continuous improvement within the department, ensuring we have access to national best practices and are always serving citizens to the best of our ability. A 36-year veteran, Deputy Chief Spears served in the Administration Division as well as in South, East, and Southwest Districts. Commander Spears served as Chief of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department from 2005-2010.
Major Susan Hill was appointed as the new Southwest District Commander.
Commander Hill served as the Southwest District Executive Officer previously. Commander Hill’s familiarity with the community, understanding of district operations, and relationships with Southwest District officers will ensure a seamless transition. Commander Susan Hill will lead the district as it continues to serve residents efficiently and effectively on Southwest District.
