Feds to Test National Wireless Emergency Alert System - October 3
On Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:18 am, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will conduct its first test of the National Alert and Warning System. If all goes according to plan, you will receive an Amber Alert style warning on your cellular phones.
It is only a test and the message will state that it is only a test; you will not be required take any action. There is a 90 character limit so the message will be brief. You cannot opt out of the alerts as Federal law states that all cellular phones with data plans must broadcast these Federal alerts. You do not need to sign up in order to receiving these alerts.
