HCSO Vehicular Crimes Investigators Charge Man with Felony Murder.
(Harris County, TX) Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes investigators have charged a 22-year old man with felony murder and felony possession of a weapon, after he ran over and killed a woman while fleeing from authorities.
Investigators say that this morning, Sunday, October 7, 2018, at around 5:55 a.m., a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable observed a late model Cadillac Ct driven by Julian Marcelino Sosa(05/26/96) pass him at a high rate of speed.
The deputy activated his emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Sosa refused to pull over, and a short pursuit then ensued.
Upon exiting Interstate 45 in the13100 block of Rankin road, Sosa lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a traffic control utility box striking a 34-year old homeless woman who was sleeping in front of the box.
He then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
Sosa was captured a short distance along the feeder road, and returned to the scene.
The woman was extracted from under the vehicle by responding fire department personnel and was transported to a local hospital.
She was pronounced deceased due to her injuries a short time later.
Sosa was transported to a local hospital for precautionary examination, and a mandatory blood draw was conducted.
During an inventory of the suspect’s vehicle, a handgun was located.
