- Perform an inquiry via internet of the phone number that called
- Even if it displays a local police department as the caller, kindly inform him/her you will call back and call said agency directly for verification
- Remember, notifications of delinquent accounts are typically made via mail or through a collection agency
- Payments should not be requested in the form of gift cards
- Contact family member(s)
- Is the caller becoming agitated or threatening you with arrest if you do not follow the payment instructions?
- Informs you that a family member has been arrested and will accept payment via gift card to secure the family member’s release
