INCIDENT: PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder

LOCATION: Baseline St. / McKinley St., Highland

SUSPECT: Derrick Jackson, 30-year-old male, resident of San Bernardino

VICTIM: 27-year-old female, resident of San Bernardino

SUMMARY:
On Monday, October 8, 2018, at approximately 2:45 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Baseline St. and McKinley St. regarding a shooting. The reporting party heard multiple shots and saw a female on the ground screaming. The victim sustained multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, deputies determined the victim and suspect met at a location in Highland. The victim got into the suspects’ vehicle. After stopping at several locations, the victim was dropped off at Baseline St. and McKinley Ave. by the suspect, who was driving a four-door compact vehicle. The suspect returned approximately five minutes later, produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times through the passenger window before fleeing.
The suspect was later identified as Derrick Jackson and on October 11, 2018 he was taken into custody outside an apartment complex on the 170 block of E. Ralston Ave. in the city of San Bernardino. During the service of a search warrant, investigators recovered a 9mm firearm and other evidence linking Jackson to the crime. Jackson was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 664/187(a), Attempted Murder, with a bail amount of $1,000,000.00.
