Harrison Street Resurfacing to Begin October 16

Beginning Tuesday, October 16 and continuing through Friday, October 19, construction crews are scheduled to begin milling, paving, and striping Harrison Street between 4th Street and Newark Street. The resurfacing of Harrison Street is part of the City's Southwest Traffic Improvement Plan, which included three new traffic signals and other circulation changes in southwest Hoboken that were implemented in 2017.

In addition to milling and paving, the work will also include enhanced pedestrian crossings, a buffered bicycle lane, and a second travel lane to improve traffic flow between Paterson Avenue and Observer Highway.

Motorists should expect delays both on Harrison Street and cross streets as streets will be closed at times due to contractor operations. Work hours will be between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The schedule for milling and paving operations is as follows:

  • Tuesday: Milling full width of Harrison Street between Fourth and Second Streets (starting at 4th and working toward 2nd)
  • Wednesday: Milling full width of Harrison St between 2nd Street and Paterson Avenue (starting at 2nd St and working toward Paterson)
  • Thursday: Paving full width of Harrison Street between 4th and 2nd Streets (starting at 4th and working toward 2nd) and install temporary road striping
  • Friday: Paving full width of Harrison St between 2nd Street and Paterson Avenue (starting at 2nd and working toward Paterson) and install temporary road striping
