Emergency Bridge Closure - Convict Grade bridge over the Shields River is closed. Detour via Springdale 
Notice of Closure: Convict Grade Road Bridge over Shields River

Park County received notice today, October 16, 2018, that the Convict Grade Road Bridge over Shields River does not have the capacity to carry legal loads and therefore needs to be closed as soon as possible. MDT underwater inspections on October 15th and 16th revealed significant scour at the pier and abutments.
The County is preparing to close the bridge as soon as possible. The road will be closed to through traffic at the bridge, approximately ½ mile east of the US Hwy 89 North intersection.
Detour route for access east of the bridge (51 Convict Grade Road east to Springdale) from the intersection of Convict Grade Rd and Hwy 89 N is as follows;
south 2.1 miles to I-90 East 340 interchange;
east on I-90 for 13.6miles to Exit 354 at Springdale;
follow Frontage Rd to Hunters Ave for 2.1 miles;
west on Convict Grade Rd.
The duration of the closure is unknown at this time but additional information will be released as soon as it is available. The County is working with MDT for repair options, temporary bridge options and will maintain the detour route for traffic. Please note that emergency response times will be increased during the closure.
