Deputy Moyer and K9 Ellie assist deputies with the apprehension of a suspect who fled into the desert

INCIDENT: Evading a Police Officer
LOCATION: Yermo Road and Calico Road, Yermo
SUSPECT: Wilber Elgin Millner, age 62 of Barstow
SUMMARY:
On Monday, October 15, 2018, at approximately 11:20 P.M., Deputy Cody Dare attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray 2006 Chrysler 300 for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Yermo Road and Calico Road in Yermo. The driver failed to stop and attempted to evade Deputy Dare by traveling on the wrong side of the road at excessive speeds. Deputy Dare temporarily lost sight of the vehicle, then found it unoccupied in the desert near Barrett Road and Ramona Road in Harvard.
Deputy Dave Moyer and his K9 Ellie, responded to assist our deputies at the scene. After tracking shoe impressions leading from the vehicle, Deputy Moyer and K9 Ellie located the driver hiding nearby and identified him as Wilber Millner. Millner was transported to the High Desert Detention Center and booked for evading a police officer.
