Detectives arrest Nicolas Ruiz & Larry Carino Romualdo for the attempted murder of a Deputy Sheriff

LOCATION: 18125 Bellflower Street, Adelanto
SUSPECT(S): Nicolas Ruiz, 26 years old, resident of Los Angeles
Larry Carino Romualdo, 26 years old, resident of Los Angeles
VICTIM: Robert Jahn, Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Victor Valley Station
SUMMARY:
On Thursday morning at 1:11 a.m. patrol deputies in a two-man car were on a traffic stop near Bellflower St./Hardy Ave. in Adelanto. While on the traffic stop, deputies heard gunshots from a nearby apartment complex and called for additional units to respond to the Raintree Apartment complex. Deputies identified the apartment where the gunshots came from. As deputies were approaching the apartment, subjects inside began firing shots at the deputies and the deputies returned fire. Deputy Jahn was struck by suspect gunfire.
Deputy Jahn was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was taken into surgery. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and following surgery his condition is listed as critical but stable.
Several suspects from the apartment were detained and questioned. Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Detail (SED) responded and after several hours were able to secure the apartment and confirmed there were no additional subjects inside. The two male suspects, Ruiz and Carino, were arrested for the Attempt Murder of Deputy Jahn. No additional suspects are being sought.
Sheriff’s Specialized Investigators responded and are conducting the investigation.
