Advisory

Campbell PD have arrested a known sex offender who is suspected of engaging in sexual acts with at least one minor.

Campbell, CA – On October 16, 2018, the Campbell Police Department arrested a known sex offender who is suspected of engaging in sexual acts with a minor.

Campbell Police detectives became aware of a relationship involving a minor that started on the app “Grindr.” Information led detectives to believe that Douglas Le, 27 years of Campbell, was engaging in sexual acts with a minor.

Mr. Le is a known sex offender who is currently on parole for crimes he committed while working as a high school teacher in 2016.

During the investigation, it was determined that on at least two occasions in September of 2018, Mr. Le had arranged to meet the victim for the purpose of having a sexual relationship. Even after having knowledge of the victim’s age, Mr. Le continued contacting the victim and soliciting the victim for sex.

On October 16, 2018, Mr. Le was contacted by officers at his home in Campbell and arrested. He was placed on a parole hold and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on the following charges: Sodomy (2 counts), Contacting a Minor for Sexual Purposes (2 counts), and Arranging to Meet a Minor for Sexual Gratification (2 counts).

"It is of the utmost importance that the Campbell Police Department protect children from those wishing to take advantage of them. Based on Mr. Le’s criminal history, his prevalence on different social media platforms, and his interest in underage children, there is a concern that there may be other minors who have been involved in a sexual relationship with Mr. Le. We applaud the victim for coming forward and encourage others with similar encounters to do the same." (Captain Gary Berg)

Anyone who has any information about Mr. Le is asked to call our Investigations Unit at (408) 871-5190. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through our free mobile application (Campbell Police Department), downloadable from the App Store or Google Play.
