Press Release: Hit & Run Fatality on Central Expressway at Pajaro

On 10/20/18 at approximately 1:40 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety responded to the report of an auto versus bicycle collision in the area of Central Expressway and Pajaro Avenue.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene to discover an adult male injured on the roadway. The bicyclist was transported to Stanford Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the bicyclist will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner Office once his identity has been verified. 

The vehicle that struck the bicyclist fled the scene. It was described as a 2004-06 Toyota Sienna, minivan maroon or red, in color with front windshield and front fender damage. A vehicle of interest was captured on surveillance footage in the area. Photos are attached to this release. This collision is being investigated jointly by the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) and Sunnyvale DPS Investigations Unit.
