Two Chula Vista Libraries Receiving Solar Canopies; Parking Lots Temporarily Affected
The Chula Vista Civic Center Branch Library located at 365 F Street, and the South Chula Vista Branch Library at 389 Orange Avenue, are currently under construction. Visitors will notice fencing closing some parking stalls at both locations to allow for the construction of lighted solar parking canopies.
At the Civic Center location, approximately 80 parking spaces are affected and at the South Branch, 17 spaces are closed. The spaces will remain closed through the duration of the solar project with the exception of Election Day. No construction will occur on Election Day, November 6, as both branches are a polling place for voters. This solar project is made possible by a Clean Renewable Energy Bond.
In addition, the Civic Center Branch also will have the roof replaced with construction beginning on Monday, October 29, with the removal of contaminated materials by workers in protective clothing. The materials being removed are not a health concern to the public. Re-roofing of the library includes using existing clay tiles making it an environmentally friendly project. Funding for the roof replacement is made possible by Measure P.
Construction will occur Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. All the projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
We appreciate your patience while these important construction projects are underway and apologize for any inconvenience.
