From now until December 1st, I am authorizing Red Oak Police Department personnel to grow mustaches and beards to support our smallest heroes battling cancer. 100% of the money goes directly to pediatric cancer research so every dollar makes a difference. Please consider donating to this worthy cause and start giving these kids hope as they fight the deadliest of cancers. The Red Oak Police Department will participate in this fundraiser until December 1st, 2018 and beards and mustaches must be neatly maintained, groomed and edged. On December 1st, 2018, officers must be in compliance with the grooming standard and department policy. We will be posting progress photos of our progress on our Facebook page periodically.

While allowing the officers to participate in this charity event was not a difficult decision, it was a difficult decision because it is a drastic departure from our department grooming standards and professional appearance standards. Please know that we will maintain our professional bearing and service to our community however, it will be with a little more facial hair as we assist in bring attention to this great cause. Officers who choose to participate must donate $30.00 dollars for a goatee or $50.00 dollars for a beard. All proceeds will be donated to “The Beard it Up Campaign” by the Cure Starts Now.

About the charity:
The Cure Starts Now is the largest funder of DIPG research in the world. Children are diagnosed with cancer every day and The Cure Starts Now is in the forefront of finding and funding a cure.
