Janine Lee of Running Springs is arrested for the stabbing death of her boyfriend Richard Nelson

SUSPECT: Janine Lee, 34-year-old, a resident of Running Springs
VICTIM: Richard Nelson, 33-year-old, a resident of Running Springs
SUMMARY:
On Friday, October 26, 2018, at about 10:00 p.m., the Running Springs Fire Department was called to a residence in the 30000 block of Hunsacker Way in Running Springs. At the residence, fire personnel located Richard Nelson in medical distress and transported him to Mountains Community Hospital. Nelson was airlifted from Mountains Community Hospital to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment. Once at Riverside Community Hospital, it was discovered Nelson had been stabbed, and he was rushed into surgery. Lifesaving measures were taken by hospital personnel but were unsuccessful, and Nelson was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail were contacted and took over the investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined Janine Lee, Nelson’s girlfriend, stabbed and killed Nelson. Lee was arrested and booked into the Sheriff’s Central Detention Center. Lee is set to be arraigned in San Bernardino Superior Court on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
