Grant awarded to police department to focus on impaired driving. Overtime scheduled on Weekends through Sep 2019.
The Wisconsin Dells Police Department along with other Columbia County law enforcement agencies are joining forces to continue the goal of reducing impaired driving. The Columbia County Task force was recently awarded a grant to focus on impaired driving and traffic related alcohol offenses. The task force has historically received grants for traffic enforcement.
This $27,500 federal grant is shared with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, Portage PD, Lodi Pd, Wyocena PD and Fall River PD. This high visibility enforcement will mainly focus on weekends and holidays from now until September of 2019.
The goal of this grant is to reduce alcohol related traffic offenses. This will be done through a “zero tolerance” policy of enforcement.
The Wisconsin Dells Police Department continues to lead the area in OWI enforcement. I encourage our citizens and visitors to utilize the resources provided in our community, such as the “Safe Ride” program and multiple taxi services, to make our roads safer.
Please report any suspected impaired drivers and drive carefully and defensively.
