Advisory

Have a SAFE and Happy Halloween and stop by the PD.

The Farmington Hills Police Department is giving away Halloween candy and blinking safety lights on Wednesday, October 31 at the front desk of Police Headquarters located at 31655 W. Eleven Mile Road. In addition, uniformed officers will distribute candy from their marked police vehicles when conducting subdivision patrols.

The Police Department reminds trick-or-treaters to stay safe this Halloween. Parents should keep the following tips in mind when kids head out trick-or-treating on Halloween night:

• Plan the trick-or-treat route and make sure adults know where children are going.
• Stay in a group and make sure a parent is nearby.
• Look both ways when crossing the street.
• Never cut across yards or use alleys.
• Wear reflective tape for visibility on costumes.
• Carry a cellphone for quick communication.
• Carry a flash light with fresh batteries.
• Wait until children are home to sort out all candy and remove any treats that are unwrapped or appear to be tampered with or damaged.
• Notify police of any suspicious activity.

The Farmington Hills Police Department wishes all residents a fun and safe Halloween!
