In September detectives in the Investigations Bureau learned of a residence in the 2800 block of Mankas Bl that was possibly downloading child pornography. Based on this information our Electronic Crimes detective began an investigation to determine the location of the transfer and identify the person(s) responsible for the downloads. On October 23rd, detectives served a search warrant at the residence and seized several items of evidence. Those items were searched by the Fairfield Police Electronic Crimes detective and several pieces of known child sexual abuse images were located.
On October 31st the resident, Gerald Ray Tucker, a 78-year old male, was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for possession of child pornography. Tucker is a registered sex offender and has a prior conviction for possessing child pornography.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimated that in 2015 their analysts reviewed over 26 million sexual abuse images and videos. We at the Fairfield Police Department believe that protecting our children is one of our most important jobs. It is for this reason that the Electronic Crimes unit actively searches for suspects within our community who are engaged in the transfer of child pornography.
