*Correction* Pedestrian is hospitalized with major injuries following collision

INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road /Central Road, Apple Valley
PEDESTRIAN: Adult male
VEHICLE: 1999 Chevy Suburban
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to Bear Valley Road near Central Road reference a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Upon deputies’ arrival they located a male down in the roadway. The pedestrian was crossing Bear Valley Road in the southbound lane, not in the crosswalk, when he was struck by a 1999 Chevy Suburban. The driver was traveling eastbound on Bear Valley Road and was unable to stop before striking the pedestrian.
Medical personnel arrived on scene and the pedestrian was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center via Mercy Air ambulance with severe head trauma.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Suburban was not impaired, and speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. All parties remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies.
