RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM PDT SATURDAY TO 6 AM PST SUNDAY FOR LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS FOR THE NORTH BAY MOUNTAINS...
Another offshore wind event will develop in the pre-dawn hours
of Saturday and continue through the day. Northeast wind gusts
from 40 to 50 mph will be possible for the North Mountains and
East Bay Hills. Relative humidity values will lower to 8-18%
creating another round of critical fire weather conditions on top
of very dry fuels.
The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a Red
Flag Warning, which is in effect from 1 AM PDT Saturday to 6 AM
PST Sunday.
* AFFECTED AREA...The North Bay Mountains above 1000 feet. Fire
weather zone 507.
* WIND...Northeast winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts 40-50 mph,
locally up to 50-60 mph highest peaks.
* HUMIDITY...Lowering 8-18% during the day Saturday and recoveries
less than 30% Saturday night.
* HIGHEST THREAT...The hills of eastern Napa County as well as
around Mt Saint Helena, Mt Tamalpais and Atlas Peak.
* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
