UPDATE: Suspect Identified; Public Assistance Requested in Locating Wanted Subject
Thanks to the public’s help, the suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Shylo Julian Herrera of the Delano/Bakersfield area. Herrera is believed to be transient at this time and the stolen vehicle has not been recovered. Herrera is currently on felony probation in Kern County for prior crimes that consist of possession of stolen property, auto theft, and first degree burglary. SBPD Detectives request the public’s assistance in locating Herrera, who now has a warrant for his arrest.

SANTA BARBARA, CA – Thursday, October 25, 2018
The Santa Barbara Police Department is conducting an auto theft investigation involving a 2004 silver Lexus RX330 with CA License Plate: 5HKG522. On Friday, October 19, 2018, the vehicle was stolen from the Greyhound station parking lot at 224 Chapala Street, which is adjacent to the Amtrak station in Santa Barbara. The male suspect was captured on video surveillance as he exited the parking lot in the stolen vehicle.
The suspect appears to be an approximate 30-40 year old Hispanic male with distinct tattoos located on his left and right hand, near the corner of his left eye/upper left cheek, and on the left side of his neck. The suspect also had a bandaged right ring finger.
