Emergency personnel responded to a car/house fatal collision at the corner of Lauren and Hile in Norton Shores.

The Norton Shores Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred today at the corner of Hile and Lauren. The crash occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m and is still under investigation.
Norton Shores Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene of a car/house collision. Upon arrival officers and fire fighters found a 1997 Chevy pickup on fire inside the home at 4616 Lauren. Fire fighters quickly extinguished the fire and the unresponsive driver was removed from the vehicle. The driver a 57 yr old male was later pronounced deceased at the scene by a medical examiner and his name is being withheld pending family notifications.
The vehicle left the roadway at Hile at Grand Haven rd where it continued west bound hitting the home at a high rate of speed without breaking. A medical condition is being considered as a cause, but further investigation is needed. There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The home owner was home at the time of the crash but was unharmed. The incident is still under investigation and the Norton Shores Police and Fire Departments were assisted at the scene by the Fruitport Police and Fire Departments.
