Advisory

Winter Storm Warning until 11:00AM Monday

A potent storm system will cross northern and eastern New Mexico with a few to several inches of snow late today through Monday. The heaviest snowfall will favor the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez mountains, as well as the I-40 corridor of eastern New Mexico. Accumulating snow will begin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and adjacent northeast highlands with the arrival of a potent cold front this afternoon. Snow will then expand southward into northeastern and east central New Mexico this evening. Very cold temperatures combined with snow, blowing snow, and freezing fog will create hazardous travel through Monday morning. Snow will taper off late Monday morning across the plains while persisting through Monday afternoon in the northern mountains.

* WHERE...Central Highlands, and Guadalupe and Quay Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 11 AM MST Monday.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GUADALUPE COUNTY ... QUAY COUNTY ... CENTRAL HIGHLANDS
