Advisory

Flood warning issued for Habersham County until 1215 am.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Habersham County in northeastern Georgia...
Rabun County in northeastern Georgia...

* Until 1215 AM EST.

* At 808 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated redeveloping heavy rain
showers west of Rabun and Habersham Counties. These showers were
producing rainfall at rates in excess of one-half inch per hour
and were poised to impact areas that have already received two to
three inches of rain today. Ongoing flooding problems will likely
worsen, and additional flooding will develop.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Clayton, Clarkesville, Cornelia, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy,
Alto, Mountain City, Tiger and Dillard. Flooding is also
developing along the Soque River along Georgia Highway 197 near
Clarkesville. Flooding is also likely along Blacks Creek and Jerry
Branch in northern Rabun County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross
water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few
inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is
not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON`T DROWN. Be especially
cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of
flooding.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Only when it is safe to do so, please report floodwaters or
landslides flowing over roads or threatening property to the National
Weather Service by calling toll-free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by
posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP.
Your message should describe the event and the specific location
where it occurred, including roadways, nearby cross streets, stream
names and other landmarks.
