Flood Warning until 12:15AM Tuesday
At 1054 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated that the coverage and intensity of the rainfall continued to diminish across Rabun and Habersham Counties. However, with much of this area receiving 3 to 4 inches of rain on Monday, high water conditions persist in many locations. The primary area of flooding remains the Soque River area along Highway 197 in Habersham County near Clarkesville. Flooding will continue primarily in and around Pitts City Park below Highway 197. Additional locations that will experience flooding include... Clayton, Clarkesville, Cornelia, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy, Alto, Mountain City, Tiger and Dillard.
* AFFECTED AREAS: RABUN, GA ... HABERSHAM, GA
Instructions:
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
