WOODWAY OFFICERS ASSAULTED DURING ARREST
Woodway, Texas (November 14, 2018) – At 9:00am Woodway PSD Officers went to a residence in the 700 Blk of Forest Oaks in attempt to locate 47 year old Andrew Kaul of Woodway who had outstanding warrants out of Woodway and Travis County for Bond Forfeiture and Failure to Appear. Officers made contact with Kaul at his residence and pursued him inside when he turned and fled from officers. Kaul violently resisted the officers’ attempts to handcuff him and physically fought both officers. One officer sustained a serious head injury after being kicked by Kaul and was transported to Hillcrest Hospital by ambulance where he remains undergoing tests and observation. The second officer also sustained a minor injury to the face during the scuffle.
The officers were able to take Kaul into custody. He was transported to the McLennan County Jail and was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Assault on a Peace Officer, Evading Arrest causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Resisting Arrest as well as the warrants.
