The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
McDowell County in western North Carolina...
Northwestern Rutherford County in western North Carolina...
Northeastern Henderson County in western North Carolina...
Southeastern Buncombe County in western North Carolina...
Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 1215 PM EST.

* At 717 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated that periodic heavy rain
will continue to develop northward into the Blue Ridge escarpment
before tapering off later this morning. Steady rises on numerous
streams and creeks throughout the headwaters of the Catawba and
Broad Rivers are expected. Localized above bankfull conditions and
flooding of low spots may develop.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Morganton, Marion, Drexel, Glen Alpine, Lake Lure, Old Fort,
Chimney Rock Village, Linville Falls, Lake James State Park and
Chimney Rock State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Only when it is safe to do so, please report floodwaters or
landslides flowing over roads or threatening property to the National
Weather Service by calling toll-free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by
