Deputies recover a stolen vehicle following a pursuit through Muscoy and San Bernardino

INCIDENT: PC 496d(a) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, CVC 2800.2 Reckless Evading of a Peace Officer
LOCATION: N.State St./W. Darby St., Muscoy
SUSPECT Terence Jerome Coats, 35 years old, resident of Adelanto.
SUMMARY:
On November 13, 2018, Deputy E. Fakhoury located a stolen vehicle traveling southbound on State St. in Muscoy. The driver, later identified as Terence Jerome Coats, immediately noticed the marked Sheriff's unit behind him and accelerated at a high rate of speed, running stop signs and red lights. A pursuit ensued through the city of San Bernardino where Coats continued to drive recklessly at high speeds without regard for public safety. Once he entered a residential area, the pursuit was terminated. Coats abandonded the vehicle and fled on foot but was located in the backyard of a residence and taken into custody without further incident.
Coats was found to be a career criminal and a documented criminal street gang member. He was arrested for PC 496d(a), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and CVC 2800.2, Reckless Evading of a Peace Officer and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
