Lighting of the Old Oak Tree to be Held Friday Rain or Shine

Tree Lighting to Move Forward
Rain or shine, annual tradition to be held Friday

As the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Danville continue to watch the weather forecast, the decision was made that the annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree would move ahead as planned on Friday, November 23, 2018.  The event begins at 5:15 p.m.

With inclement weather in the forecast, there was some question on whether the event would still be held. However, after further consideration the Chamber of Commerce has announced that the event will move ahead, rain or shine.

The Chamber thanks everyone who reached out in concern for Tree Lighting participants and performers,” said  Danville Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Zae Perrin. “The program will adapt to weather conditions, but rest assured, the Tree Lighting will proceed, rain or shine. We look forward to a record turnout at this annual tradition with the community.”

The Lighting of the Old Oak Tree is a long-time Danville tradition, and both the Town and Chamber are pleased to move ahead and invite the community to bundle-up and come down Friday evening, enjoy the tree lighting ceremony, and stay to support the many great shops and restaurants in historic downtown Danville.

Streets will be closed in the downtown area for the event, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
