Alert

Monthly Outdoor Warning Siren test today at noon.

The Huntsville - Madison County Emergency Management Agency will be testing the Outdoor Warning Siren System at noon today. The monthly tests serve to familiarize the public with the sound of the warning sirens as well as test and exercise the equipment itself.

The sirens are not designed to be heard indoors. They are primarily a warning system for those outdoors at parks, playgrounds, walking or jogging, or any other outdoor activity. We recommend a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for your home or office as well as an app for your cellular phone to be sure you receive any warnings no matter your location. Any one method can fail, so it is important to have more than one way to get warnings.

Instructions:

Please think about what actions you would need to take in the event of a real warning. Have a plan. Have an area of refuge or shelter identified now. While it does not happen as often, severe weather has and can occur in winter months.
