Although the widespread, heavy precipitation has largely ended across the area, additional wintry precipitation will likely redevelop from the northwest overnight. Many locations will see additional snow showers and occasional sleet, while other locations could see brief freezing rain or pockets of freezing temperatures that keep roads treacherous. Conditions will slowly dry out from the west on Monday afternoon.
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation. Spotty freezing drizzle will continue across the warning area late today. Additional light snow showers or sleet should return overnight from the northwest. Additional accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet are expected across the North Carolina mountains, with lesser amounts across the Georgia and South Carolina mountains.
* WHERE...The mountains of South Carolina and northeast Georgia, as well as the southern and central mountains of North Carolina.
* WHEN...Until 2 PM EST Monday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the combination of recent heavy wet snow and ice. Travel could be nearly impossible in many locations, especially with temperatures remaining below freezing in many areas. The hazardous conditions should continue to impact the morning commute on Monday.
