Ontario Police are investigating an assault that occurred at the Waba Grill located at 1333 N. Mountain Avenue on Wednesday, December 12th.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:31 PM in the dining area of the restaurant.  The victim was physically assaulted by the suspect after placing his order at the counter.  Following the assault, the victim and the suspect engaged in an argument in which a racially insensitive statement may have been made. Investigators are looking into an allegation that the assault was racially motivated.

Ontario Police investigators have identified the suspect who is cooperating with the investigation and has provided a statement regarding the incident.  At the conclusion of the investigation, the case will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office for review.  Inquiries regarding the identity of the suspect will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.
