SUMMARY:
On Saturday, December 15th, at approximately 1:10 p.m., AR306 and 40King5 were requested by San Bernardino County Fire to the area of Deep Creek Hot Springs, Lake Arrowhead, for a report of an injured hiker that was unable to hike any further.
40King5 arrived on scene and located the injured hiker in an area that was not accessible by ground crews.
The victim was located on a steep and narrow trail and there was no landing area nearby to land and pick up the victim. 40King5 relayed this information to AR306 and advised them the only way to get the victim was by a hoist rescue.
AR306 positioned overhead of the victim and Reserve Deputy Miller lowered Medic Peng to the victim. It was determined that the victim had minor injuries and she was then placed into a rescue harness. Once the medic had the victim ready, AR306 hoisted the victim to the helicopter followed by the medic. AR306 transported the victim to a nearby landing zone at Bowen Ranch where she was treated by paramedics.
