Holiday Crime Prevention Reminders:
As Christmas is fast approaching, remember you are not the only ones shopping for deals; thieves everywhere are looking for opportunities. Presents under the tree always add to the holiday spirit, but they are also an invitation for the thief.
Keep presents out of sight; both in the parking lot as you continue shopping and at home.
Keep all doors locked. Secure both your vehicle and homes at all times.
Keep pedestrian doors leading from an attached garage to your home locked.
Keep all garage doors closed and locked -- thieves are looking for the snow blowers that have just been tuned
Don’t be distracted when walking to or from the shopping mall. Talking on the phone with an arm full of presents is an invitation for those with a criminal desire to help themselves to your packages.
Upon return to your vehicle, scan the interior to make sure no one is hiding in it.
Remain conscientious when driving away from the shopping mall.. Make sure you are not being followed. If you suspect someone may be following you, drive to the nearest police station or a well lit gas station and contact the police.
Remember to record and file all serial numbers for any valuable gift, such as computers, and electronics
Finally, when ordering on the internet, do not take advantage of “good deals” that pop-up; Internet shopping should be initiated by the shopper bringing up the website.
Wishing you a Peaceful & Pleasant Holiday Season
