Search and rescue in the community of Arrowbear

SUSPECT: Shawn Michael Earnest, 33 years old, resident of Orange County
SUMMARY:
On December 19, 2018, at approximately 7:38 p.m. deputies responded to a welfare check on Cory Earnest in the Community of Arrowbear. Prior to the deputies’ arrival, his brother Shawn Earnest fled into the forest fearing he would be arrested for his two no bail warrants. Cory was treated by medical personal and transported to Mountain Community Hospital.
On December 20, 2018, at 1:57 a.m. deputies responded back to the Community of Arrowbear to help locate Shawn Earnest who had not returned home. Deputies searched the forest where Shawn was last seen but were unable to locate him. Later that same day deputies took a missing person’s report on Shawn Earnest.
On December 20, 2018, at 6:33 p.m. Sheriff's dispatch received a 911 call from Shawn Earnest stating he was lost in the forest and needed help because his phone was about to shut off. Dispatchers was able to get the GPS coordinates from Shawn's 911 call.
Sheriff's Aviation was dispatched to the area of Shawn's GPS coordinates and located him. The Aviation Unit directed deputies to Shawn's location where he was rescued. Shawn was not injured and declined medical aid.
Shawn Earnest was arrested for his warrants and transported to the Sheriff's Central Detention Center for booking.
