Full Notification

On Saturday, December 22, 2018, at approximately 6:08 P.M., Turlock Police Department was notified of an injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. Officers, Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene in the 2600 block of Fulkerth Rd. Upon arrival, personnel performed lifesaving measures on the motorcyclist who had sustained serious injuries. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where, unfortunately, he succumbed to the injuries he received as a result of the collision.

Turlock Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Preliminary indications are that the driver of a Chevrolet pickup, a 39 year old male from Modesto, was travelling east on Fulkerth Road and was attempting to make a left hand turn onto the onramp for northbound Highway 99. As the driver was making his turn, the rear portion of the pickup was struck by the motorcycle which was heading west on Fulkerth Rd. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle and sustain the fatal injuries. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. The occupant of the pickup was not injured and he is cooperating with this investigation.

As M.A.I.T. is still in the early stages of this investigation, they have not yet determined fault or cause, however, it does appear that speed may have been a factor in this incident. The motorcyclist has been identified as Michael Beede, a 39 year old male from Turlock.
