Flood Warning until 07:00AM Monday

French Broad River Near Fletcher affecting Buncombe and Henderson Counties Heavy rain of 2-4 inches occurring on top of already saturated soils is producing significant runoff within the French Broad River basin. The French Broad River from Rosman to Blantyre is already above Minor Flood Stage and rising, causing widespread flooding of low-lying areas and water crossings. Flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to the river near Fletcher is underway and worsening. It will take some time for the floodwave to crest and travel down the French Broad River. Additional rainfall of 1-2 inches will cause the French Broad River to reach Minor Flood Stage at Fletcher so the current Flood Advisory is being upgraded to a Flood Warning. Additional rises are possible so residents are encouraged to closely monitor NWS flood products and the river levels at: http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=gsp The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for the French Broad River Near Fletcher.

* from this morning to Monday morning, or until the warning is canceled.

* At 6:45 AM Friday the stage was 12.0 feet and rising rapidly.

* Minor Flood Stage is 13.0 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Forecast: the river will rise above Minor Flood Stage by late this morning and continue to rise to near 14.5 feet by this evening. The river will fall below Minor Flood Stage sometime Saturday afternoon.

* Impacts: At 15.0 feet, Minor Flooding continues. French Broad River floodwaters may be impacting several roads within the valley, resulting in road closures including along Glenn Bridge Rd., Pinner Rd., Butler Bridge Rd., Nelson Rd., Banner Farm Rd., Brannon Rd., Old Brevard Hwy., and Ladson Rd. Widespread farmland flooding is ongoing with floodwaters impacting some residential and commercial property and outbuildings. Adjacent parks and river access points along the reach of the river are experiencing significant inundation.
